They are simple village people, coming to a city like Singapore may give them culture shock due to their lack of exposure.

Common for maids to be home sick/feel sad for the initial one to two weeks. Therefore do not probe into their personal/family problems.

They have been trained, but may not be according to our Singapore's high standard of hygienic, organizing things and management of time. therefore:-

(a)

Employers need to show them how things are to be done. This is also due to their attitude to learn to please their employers and not to make mistakes or do things their own ways;

(b)

They may have learnt to use washing machine and other equipments but the models of these equipments used in their training might be of different models.

Do not expect your children to accept them right away.

Indonesian maids are good helpers that do not mind to be directed to do things. Their attitudes and efficiency might not be compared to the Filipinas who can be good overall household administrators.

Most of them are not able to speak much English due to their education system and lack of English usage environment. But their language learning ability is good.

7.

Do not force them to wear shorts/ skits shorter than knee length because this is against their culture.

They may not be used to our food initially.

(a)

They eat alot of rice with little fish/chicken meat and vegetables, more chilli and tomato;

(b)

Provide some instant noodles (chicken flavour).

9.

It is their cultural offence to touch their head or to spit in front of them.
